Eric Tsai Ting Yi

We at Natural8 are proud to announce that Taiwanese poker pro Eric Tsai is one of the latest additions to our team of professional poker players - better known as Team Hot. Despite his young age, Eric has already achieved a lot in the tournament world, and at the time of writing, has over $1.1 million in live tournament winnings, putting him at #7 in Taiwan’s all-time tournament rankings.

Rise To Fame

Eric had a fantastic start to his poker career, as his first Hendon Mob cash was a win in the ₱ 2000 No Limit Hold'em PokerStars Live Manila event in July 2016. He took down ₱ 75,130 for his efforts and never looked back since. In that same tournament series, he scored a 33rd-place finish in the Main Event, and second place in the Midnight Turbo event - not a bad way to start your tournament career!

Since then, Eric has been a staple of the Asian tournament scene, regularly appearing in Asian Poker Tour, Asia Pacific Poker Tour, and PPPoker events. In 2019, he took his first foray into the Western poker scene, making his debut in EPT Prague where he would cash in five different events.

A couple of years later, Eric made his WSOP debut, cashing in nine different WSOP events, as well as a number of other smaller events in 2021. It was his performance in this wide variety of tournaments that made us think that Eric would be a perfect fit for Team Hot, and we’re delighted to welcome him aboard.

Biggest Accolades

During Eric’s seven-year poker career, he has amassed over $1.1 million in tournament winnings, winning several high-profile events. After his debut win, Eric went on to win the KRW 2,150,000 No Limit Hold'em High Roller event in Incheon for KRW 32,229,000, or around $28,500 in USD. Just a couple of weeks later, he placed second in the KRW 6,000,000 Super High Roller event for KRW 22,000,000. Eric also won the NT$ 33,000 High Roller, the NT$ 22,000, and NT$10,000 events within the space of five months in 2019 for a total of over NT$ 750,000, or around $25,000.

However, Eric’s biggest win came in November of 2019, where he placed second in the KRW 2,500,000 No Limit Hold’em Red Dragon Main Event for KRW 290,000,000, or just over $250,000!

Eric also has a 3rd place finish in the APPT Cambodia Main Event, as well as a fourth place in the $5,000 No Limit Hold’em six-handed event at the WSOP, showing that he’s not just a high roller specialist!

Current Rankings

At the time of writing, Eric currently sits in 7th place on Taiwan’s all-time money list thanks to his $1.1 million in tournament winnings. Eric is also ranked second in Taiwan according to the Global Poker Index’s rankings. There’s no telling just how high up these lists he can climb, as he’s been having a stellar 2023, and he shows no signs of slowing down!

He’s had three high profile 3rd place finishes, starting with the NT$ 25,000 No Limit Hold'em Championship in Taipei City in January, then at the NT$ 40,000 No Limit Hold'em High Roller Single Day event four months later, followed by the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em APPT Cambodia Main Event.

Eric has also been playing a busy schedule at the 2023 WSOP and has cashed in six events at the time of writing. His biggest score at the WSOP this summer came in the $25,000 No Limit Hold’em High Roller 8-Handed event, where he came 37th for $43,750. During his spell in Vegas, Eric also won the $1,100 No Limit Hold’em UltimateStack event at The Venetian for over $53,000!

Summary

We believe that Eric will fit right into Team Hot, as he has an infectious passion for the game and a hunger to keep improving. We hope that the team here at Natural8 can give him the support he needs to go on and do even greater things in the poker world and establish himself as a big name around the world - not just in Asia.
